Utah Junior Turkey Show:
We are excited to start planning for the 2025 Utah Jr. Turkey Show. This year, we have been given the green light to place our turkey poult order with Norbest, but we will be watching the HPAI situation closely as the season progresses and adapt if needed.
We are trying things a little differently this year and ask for your help getting the information to the FFA youth in your chapter. WE ARE NOT going to contact them directly as in the past years, but ask that you be their main contact for the FFA youth from your chapter. Therefore, would you please email, text, or call them to let them know that turkey poult ordering will be open from April 1-27, 2025?
All poult orders will be handled through the https://www.utahjrturkeyshow.com/ website. There is an instructional video on how to place orders on the main website page.
This year, we also have a Facebook page where updates can be found at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61567831515978 or search for Utah Junior Turkey Show on Facebook. Please encourage parents and youth to follow the page for timely updates.
Please use the Utah Junior Turkey Show website and the Facebook page as your primary source of information. If answers cannot be found, please reach out to the Box Elder County Extension office.
The link to the Google order doc is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DrtxUKC4ym9xPBM2cIoMpvC3sFqEtnZcSD2BxHMl8Ac/edit?usp=sharing (DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH YOUTH). If you do not have access to the Google order doc, contact Cheyenne Capener at 435-695-2542 or [email protected] , and she will get you access to it.
Note: If you are ordering turkeys as a Westlake FFA Member, you must notify Mr. Gowans of your order so please keep a copy of your order and give it to Mr. Gowans.

State FFA Judging CDE's:
State FFA Judging will be held April 21-23, 2025. We will be leaving for the contest on April 21, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Students need to meet at Westlake High School by 4:30 PM. We will travel to Logan, Utah, and check into the hotel. The hotel we will stay at is the Hampton Inn - 207 North Main, Logan, Utah 84321 - 435-753-3000.
Monday night Dinner is on their own, and they need to be in their rooms by 9:30 PM. Contests start Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM and run all day long. Tuesday night dinner will be provided by the chapter, and curfew is at 9:30 PM. The Wednesday morning contest starts again at 8:00 AM and ends at 12:00 PM. All students will be checked out of the hotel, and we will depart to head back home at 12:30. Arrival home is estimated at 2:30-3:00 PM. If your contest is done early and you are at the hotel, all rules need to be followed, and you need to be on your best behavior. One of the advisors will be at the hotel for you to contact as well.
Students need to pack and bring their FFA attire as all contests require official dress. Livestock, horses, and Dairy are not allowed to wear hats in this year's contest, and official dress is required. Below is a Code of Conduct Form/permission slip to be signed and returned to Mr. Gowans. Please have students bring money for food. The hotel has a free breakfast.
